General
Information
The
Public Works Department is responsible
for the maintenance of Village
owned streets, snow and ice removal,
most street and bike path lights,
street signs, maintenance of streets
and sidewalks, and storm sewer
maintenance, maintenance of the
Village’s fleet, building and
grounds, parks are maintained
with their buildings and grounds.
The Department plans and oversees
numerous infrastructure construction
projects such as storm sewer and
manhole replacements, street overlays
and reconstruction with the Village
Engineer.
The Village of University Park
Public Works Department employs
nine full time employees that
include a full time mechanic and
2 seasonal employees.

Departmental Services
Tree
Branch Pick-Up
This service begins the first
Monday of April and ends the last
Monday of October. Branches are
to be at the curb no later than
6 a.m. every Monday. They must
be cut into 4-foot lengths, and
not to exceed 4 foot in height.
If longer than 4 feet, they will
not be picked up. No shrubs, plants,
evergreens or tree stumps will
be accepted for disposal. These
items can be disposed of by calling
your disposal service for yard
waste.

Street
Sweeping
Service is provided 6 times a
year.
Cycle 1- Between March 15- April

Reminder:
Raking of leaves into the street
is prohibited!
Tree Trimming
The trimming of parkway trees
are done in the Fall of each year.
Wood
Chips
Provided free of charge for mulching
around trees and plants. May be
picked up at any time at the Public
Works Garage- 25345 S. Western

Replacement Program
The Village replaces parkway trees
that are diseased or have storm
damage in the fall of the year.
University
Parkway Road Improvements
TO BE ANNOUNCED
Phase
One- Widening of University
Pkwy from Central to Cicero, and
from Cicero to Governors Hwy.
This includes traffic signals
at Cicero and University Pkwy,
and at Governors and University
Pkwy.
Phase
two- Widening of University
Pkwy from Governors Hwy to Crawford.
This will include a traffic signal
at Governors State University.
