The
Village operates several computer
systems, running various software
applications on diverse, yet connected
platforms. These systems are used
for the Village’s finances; billing;
dispatching of police and fire
personnel; work detail, document
management; office automation;
as well as Internet serving and
access for employees. The following
is a list some of the village
systems:
Computer-Aided-Dispatch
(CAD): The IT Department
and Police and Fire Departments
jointly operate a client-server
CAD system using Dell Power Edge
Servers, along with Dell CAD gateways
and PC clients. The system is
capable of receiving concurrent
911 calls: transferring the location
information: and allowing the
dispatcher to enter the rest of
the call information needed to
quickly dispatch the call electronically
to a field unit called a Mobile
Data Computer (MDC).
Fundbalance (Financial
Package): The IT Department
operates a true client-server
financial system using a Dell
Power Edge as server, and Dell
workstations, and PC's as clients
for the Finance Department. This
system comes with Pervasive SQL
and is configured for the Village's
network environment. Fundbalance
uses Open Data Base Connectivity
(ODBC) technology for support
of multiple relational databases.
The Finance department can then
quickly and easily access financial
data and information.
FireHouse
Software(FHS)
The IT Department also supports
this widely used fire department
records management package which
includes incident reporting, investigation
records management, ems/search
and rescue incident reporting,
occupancy and inspection management,
staff management, apparatus equipment
inventory, and hydrant management.
Computerized Fleet Analysis(CFA):
The IT Department manages the
CFAWIN PC LAN fleet system which
is comprised of the following
modules: Equipment Maintenance,
Parts Inventory Control, Tire
management, Custom Report Writer,
Fuel Transaction Interface, Asset
Management, Preventive Maintenance
Scheduling, Work Order Processing,
Fuel & Fluid Control, PRTS
Inventory Control and Reporting
Tool for the Village's Public
Works Department.
Office
Automation/LANs: The
Village operates Local Area Networks
(LANs) running Microsoft Server
2003 with Microsoft Office as
the office automation standard.
Internet: The
Village uses a Microsoft Server
2003 advanced for its WWW server.
For Internet access from the network
the Village uses Microsoft’s Internet
Explorer browser.
Wide Area-Network:
The Village, in partnership with
SCB and Comcast, operates a 100
Mbps Fiber Distributed Data Interface
(FDDI) Wide-Area-Network, and
broadband access to link the computers
at eight Village sites together
in a secure networking environment.
