EastCom
Regional Dispatch Center
In
October 1998, six municipalities
consolidated their emergency services
dispatching into the EastCom Regional
Dispatch Center, becoming the
fifth PSAP in Will County to do
so.
Not
only did the consolidation allow
the communities involved to save
money, it allowed for the standardization
of telecommunications equipment
which individual communities may
not have been able to purchase
on their own and provided for
an unprecedented level of cooperation
between the numerous police and
fire agencies represented.
EastCom
currently dispatches for 10 departments
within six municipalities including,
Beecher Police and Fire, Crete
Police and Fire, Crete Township
Fire, Monee Police and Fire, Peotone
Police, and University Park Police
and Fire. Additionally, EastCom
is the MABAS 27 Dispatch Center
for all large scale fire / EMS
incidents in the area.
Staffed
by 17 telecommunicators, plus
the Manager Pam Buzan, EastCom
handled 55,417 calls during 2003.
Equipped with the latest in telecommunications
technology, including Computer
Aided Dispatching (CAD), Enhanced
911 (E911), etc. residents of
the communities represented by
EastCom can be assured that the
best service is available during
their time of need.
